Effective filtration within aircraft and military equipment, to ensure all systems are free from contaminants, is vital. High performance is essential to meet and exceed expectations, guaranteeing safety, long service life, reliability and cost effective operation in the most demanding situations.
Porvair Filtration Group (Microfiltrex division) designs and manufactures specialist filtration components and assemblies to meet the exceptional technical challenges of the aerospace and defence industries for contamination control in hydraulic, fuel, lubrication and air systems. Our filters protect vital sub-systems in aircraft, helicopters, military vehicles, missiles and spacecraft such as:
- flight controls
- fuel management
- fuel inerting systems
- thrust reversers
- braking and steering
- power generation
- air intakes
Porvair has vast experience in development, design, certification and project management in the aerospace industry. We use Autocad® packages and finite element stress analysis to facilitate our designs and our project management teams ensure we meet programme requirements. Integration of the component or assemblies into a system is key and we provide all relevant data, information and support as requested.
We have a cellular production layout covering key operations in the manufacture of our products, including assembly and test, filter cartridge assembly, machining, welding and chemical processing. We also provide a service for manufacture to customer’s designs and specifications. Our key areas of expertise include, supply chain management of parts, assembly of hydraulic, fuel and air components, testing to customer specifications and products including filter assemblies, non-return valves, pressure relief valves, and special strainers.
Porvair Filtration Group is certified to ISO9001, AS9100 and EASA Part 21 Subpart G Enabling Issue of EASA Form 1 aerospace quality standards. Our facilities boast a fully equipped test house and laboratory, with dedicated engineers working to develop optimum filtration solution. Test rigs include multi-pass, high pressure flow, flow fatigue, cold start, fuel, impulse fatigue and an environmental temperature chamber. In addition to the above project focused activity, Porvair has a programme of continuous improvement using a structured approach as defined by the Aerospace Defence Security (ADS) SC21 programme.
